Galaxy Note 9 will get Android 10 soon

The Note 9 is a flagship device from Samsung which was released in August, 2018 with pre-loaded Android 8.1 Oreo. The flagship later received the One UI update based on Android 9 Pie. The Android 10 is the latest update from Google and probably the last major update for Note 9.

Samsung opens the beta registrations of Android 10 aka One UI 2.0 for Note 9  in its home country few hours ago, according to reports. The beta 1 update file is ready to download and flash using ADB for international edition of Note 9, but that only for advanced users and not for all users.

So users are wondering about when the Beta and stable rollout will begin for their regions. The Note 9 users can try to register for One UI 2.0 through Samsung Members app, to get the latest beta. But early betas are usually buggy, and banking apps are not working in the Beta 1, at the moment. Se we recommend users to wait for stable rollout. Albeit, Samsung didn’t reveal any specific rollout schedule, we can predict them based on the previous rollouts.

The Android 9 Pie beta reached Note 9 on December 12th, 2018 and the stable rollout began on January 4th. The stable rollout of Pie started with Germany and spread to the US in February. Finally, unlocked units received the Pie update in March, 2019.

However, this time Note 9 stands next to Note 10 to get the One UI 2.0 update. So we expect the stable rollout for Note 9 very soon after Note 10.

According to Android Authority, Samsung is going to wind up the beta program for S10, and the stable rollout is going to begin, in December or even in late-November. It is obvious that soon after S10, Samsung will start the stable rollout for Note 10, recently the device got the Beta 2 of One UI 2.0.

So based on this, we expect that Galaxy Note 9 may start getting the stable Android 10 update in select markets in January, 2020. The rollout may spread to the US in February, 2020. The rollout dates may vary depending on carriers and other technical issues.

What’s new with Android 10 ?

The tenth anniversary update of Android is coming with many awesome features like Full Gesture navigation, Smart reply, battery saver schedule, support for TLS 1.3, revamped user interface known as One UI 2.0 and so on.

As the update is still in beta stage, more refinements will come in forthcoming betas and the stable release.

Update on 28/11/2019 :

Samsung Israel revealed the official rollout dates of Android 10 aka One UI 2 to various Samsung devices. According to the roadmap, Note 9 is scheduled to receive the update in January 2020, as we have told before. However, the rollout may vary according to regions and carriers. So the stable rollout is expected to begin in early-January in South Korea, USA and India.

The Beta rollout has begun for the Note 9 users in India few hours ago. The size of the update is about 1.9 GB and comes with refined night mode in addition to all the standard goodies of Android 10. So at the moment the OneUI 2 beta program is at full speed in South Korea, the UK and India. We expect the program will spread to the US and other regions in December 2019.
